2. Well Being

This essence connects us with the second chakra - the Hara. This is the seat of our spirit - the source of our being. It is also the area where we were originally connected with our Mother through the umbilical cord, the source of our nourishment, our life for those first nine months. For many of us,this cord was cut very abruptly and uncaringly after birth and we felt disconnected with our source of life. Cast adrift, in a hostile universe of bright lights, loud voices, cold air. This created a wound, a feeling of disconnection which we often hold in our belly for the rest of our life.

So ironically the very place where our spirit resides becomes a place of pain, anxiety, tension and fear and we spend our lives avoiding this place. Instead seeking others or things to fulfil us - to give us a sense of security, of belonging, a sense of self.

The reality is that no person, or any amount of material possessions, sexual encounters, food, drugs, successful career or social status can truly fulfil us for long and give us a feeling of abiding peace and contentment. This can only be achieved by looking deep within our second chakra - feeling and accepting all that is held there. By coming home to ourselves.

The second chakra is the control centre for the second subtle body, the emotional body. This is the centre of feeling, of emotions, of intimacy, of sensuality. It is also the centre of anger and pain and fear of death. It is like a well spring of life. The deeper we dive in to it the calmer it becomes until at the very core we find our connection with Existence itself.

It is vitally important as an individual to tune in to the core of our being, because once we are fulfilled and content within ourselves - we are no longer looking for someone else to fulfil us, to make us feel ok with ourselves. We are for the first time capable of meeting another person, out of an overflowing fullness and abundance and a wanting to share. Rather than being beggars begging from other beggars, we become Emperors sharing our riches with other Emperors.
