Children's Flower

There is a beautiful quote from D.H. Lawrence: "When you come to life – you must come as the flower does – naked and defenceless and infinitely in touch". This is the quality we all have as children, but seem to quickly lose through our conditioning, socialisation and education. We are forced to live within the mind-set of our family, our society and our religions. All too quickly we lose the sense of wonder and awe, the magic and adventure of each moment that we experienced as little children.

This essence helps to connect us once again to this place of innocence that still resides within us. It enhances the quality of playfulness within us, which is an important quality when exploring one’s inner world.

When a child is exploring his world he approaches it with wide-eyed wonder, allowing things to be just as they are without judgement or criticism – just taking things as they come – investigating them with his totality, and then moving on without any regrets to the next object of his attention. This is a beautiful way to approach life, and particularly self exploration. Purposelessness – simply investigating for the sheer joy of doing so – how wonderful it is to become acquainted with ourselves, examining all our flavours, and colours and fragrances.

Most of us race through life focussed on the outside world, on others, on careers, on goals and forget to get to know and love the person that we are. The Children's Flower helps us to regain the simplicity and innocence we came into the world with.
